Dr.
David Mandel, Dean of Information Technology and Chief Information
Officer
“In my previous position, I was asked to mentor young
professionals. I thought, why not work at the high school level
where my knowledge and experience would have an even greater
impact? Coming into the American Hebrew Academy with its vast IT
infrastructure, the commitment by faculty and staff in using
technology, and the excitement of our students in using technology
in their learning makes this a wonderful environment in which to
share knowledge.”
Coming, most recently from corporate America,
Dr. David Mandel has always been involved in how information is used
and stored for the present and the future. He has most recently
specialized in intellectual property analytics and innovation
assessment, working at companies (including Xerox and EDS) that are
using cutting edge technology in the field of information
extraction. Dr. Mandel also had his own business for 15 years
creating applications for universities, small businesses and
corporations. In addition, he was an Assistant Professor at the
University of Connecticut, developed and taught computer literacy
courses at the University of New York at Buffalo for over ten years
and has conducted courses for public school teachers on computer
use.
Dr. Mandel also likes being involved in areas
of campus life outside of IT. You will see him at most swim and
track meets helping out with the timing and score keeping as well as
biking with students and faculty around Greensboro.
