Ruth Hoffman, Health Center Director

Ruth Hoffman understands all about your health needs and concerns.

For starters, she's been a pediatric nurse, home health nurse, clinical nurse coordinator, nurse in a pediatrician's office, and camp nurse. She's had EMT training, is a CPR and First Aid instructor for the American Heart Association, and has been trained as a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider. She comes to the Academy after several years of directing the Department of Pediatrics at the Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro.

What does she love about her job? "It's exciting to build a health center from the ground up. I'm surrounded by wonderful people: students, teachers, and staff. The atmosphere is energizing. It's a fascinating time to be here."

Mrs. Hoffman and her two-nurse staff are never more than a phone call away.  There is a Registered Nurse on-campus or on call 24 hours a day, 7days a week.  They make it a point to offer one-on-one health care counseling and advice. Whatever your questions--about nutrition, exercise, or wellness--the Health Center can point you to answers.
