Steve LeWinter, Mathematics Department Chair

“The opportunity to work in a technologically rich environment with some of the most amazing people I know” is why Steve LeWinter says he came to the American Hebrew Academy.

Mr. LeWinter spends a lot of time on campus: teaching, chairing the Math Department, coordinating the “Israel Experience” and, of course, teaching the swing dancing elective with his wife, Debra. He and Debra can also be seen, quite often, walking their dog around campus.

What you might not know about Mr. LeWinter is that he had to re-take Algebra 1 in summer school, but turned it all around and earned perfect scores on the math sections of both the SAT and the GRE.

When asked about his favorite part of working at the Academy, he simply says “The students and the faculty.”
